Ellie Jane Goulding born 30th December 1986, Hereford England. Tracey Goulding Summers was her mother's employee in a store. Arthur Goulding is the father. Goulding is the child of two and is a sister named Alex and a sister who is older named Isabel and a second sister called Jordan. Alex and her brother are an bass player and a Hereford Band part of the Hereford Band. When she was young she was surrounded by her mom who inspired her to become music teacher. In the ninth grade, she started learning clarinet. She started writing herself songs around 14 years old, but it wasn't until she went off to college that she really pursued the art of songwriting. Goulding began to develop an interest in electronic music while taking classes. Through MySpace She was able to contact Frankmusik who assisted her in creating her folktronica. Jamie Lillywhite found her at this period. She initially worked as her manager and then was appointed A.&R. of a university talent contest. Lillywhite later connected her with Starsmith who is a producer who assisted with the November 15th album release, Under the Sheets. He then worked on Lights which was her debut album. Despite the fact that they released Under the Sheets under the label of indie Neon Gold Records she was already registered with Polydor Records.
